The Background: TopCo provides aggregation, innovation, and knowledge management solutions for its food industry member-owners and customers, including grocery retailers, wholesalers, and foodservice companies.

The Challenge: TopCo needed three eCommerce sites. They hired another company to manage the build, but due to miscommunications and inconsistency, they ended up with two of the sites virtually unbuilt. We came into the picture to rebuild the websites. Two of the websites would be product catalogs and descriptions. The third website would need a custom-built filtering system as well as a product catalog. Altogether, they needed 400 items listed with tags and APIs from two different settings.

The Final Product: The project included phases of strategic discovery, branding expansion and UI, web design and development, custom software plugin development, and complex troubleshooting and custom software development. We ended up building all three complete websites, configuring additional API integrations and plugins as needed.

The Details: We came into this project with a 6-month timeline and completed the project in just 3 months. We also came in under budget. Additionally we provided a list of possible improvements to reduce overhead and administration time for Topco’s current sites, which could save them about $10,000 per site/per year in management costs. Finally, as part of our service, we did our best to assess and clean up the existing sites, removing unnecessary plugins or features that dramatically slowed down the pages.
